Life and Work of Confucius
Introduction: Confucius, also known as Kong Qiu, was an ancient Chinese philosopher and educator. He is one of the most influential figures in Chinese history, with his thoughts and teachings permeating Chinese culture to this day.
Early Life: Confucius was born in 551 BC in the state of Lu (now Qufu, Shandong province) during the Eastern Zhou dynasty. He was the son of a warrior, but was orphaned at a young age and raised by his mother. Confucius showed great academic promise from a young age, and began studying the classics when he was only fifteen years old.
Teachings and Legacy: Confucius was a firm believer in the power of education and self-improvement. His teachings emphasized the importance of ethical behavior, filial piety, respect for elders, and a strong sense of social responsibility.
