Notebook Keyboard Switching
Most notebook computers come with both a standard keyboard and a numeric keypad. However, the numeric keypad is sometimes overlaid on top of the letters, which means that you will need to activate the keypad in order to type in numbers. Here's a guide on how to switch between the standard keyboard and the numeric keypad on your notebook computer.
Activating the Numeric Keypad
The first step in switching to the numeric keypad is to activate it on your keyboard. This is usually done by pressing a function key (Fn) and a special function key at the same time. The special function key is often labeled \"Num Lock\" or has a picture of a keypad on it. Once you've activated the number keypad, you can start typing numbers as you normally would.
Switching Back to Standard Keyboard
If you need to switch back to the standard keyboard, simply deactivate the numeric keypad by pressing the Fn and Num Lock keys at the same time. Alternatively, some notebook computers allow you to use a special key combination to toggle between the standard keyboard and the numeric keypad, so check your user manual for more information.
What to Do if Your Keypad isn't Working
If you've activated the numeric keypad and it still won't work, there could be several reasons why. First, check to make sure that you've turned off the Caps Lock key, as this can cause the letters to appear in uppercase instead of numbers. If that doesn't work, try holding down the Alt key while typing in the numbers on the keypad. Finally, if none of these steps work, you may need to update your keyboard drivers or contact technical support for further assistance.
